Assistant Professor - Computer Engineering Engineering
The Department of Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Engineering, beginning September 1, 2026. We seek dynamic and innovative candidates with a strong research record in quantum information science and engineering (QISE) who can build and sustain a nationally recognized, externally funded applied research program. While applications over a wide range of specialties in QISE are encouraged, the successful candidate will enhance or strategically complement ongoing efforts within the Engineering department, Department of Physics, and Data & Quantum Science Center at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Assistant Professor - Biology Education Biology
The Department of Biology at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor to pursue a teaching and research program focused on Biology Education and/or pedagogy in science. The position will begin September 1, 2026. We will prioritize candidates who are committed to improving student success in the first years of undergraduate study. The faculty member will focus on teaching and/or leading instructional teams in our core first-year General Biology courses. They will also stimulate the development of pedagogical models that can be adapted for other courses, establish an externally funded research program, direct the research of graduate and undergraduate students, and interact with a dynamic group of biologists in research areas ranging from molecular and cellular biology to ecology and evolution. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent degree and relevant postdoctoral research or teaching experience. Post Doctoral Research Fellow Biology
The Kelliher lab at UMass Boston is seeking a postdoctoral colleague to join our community, recently awarded a 5-year MIRA grant from NIGMS (R35 GM157067) to study how circadian rhythms interact with nutrients in the environment and cellular metabolism. We utilize the fungal model system Neurospora as well as mammalian cell culture. We employ genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and bioinformatics to study mechanisms of circadian compensation, clock transcriptional networks, and cross-talk between the circadian oscillator and metabolism.
Community Service Officer Public Safety
A Community Service Officer (CSO) is an unarmed, uniformed security position, and is a non-sworn (civilian) member of the UMass Boston Police Department (UMBPD). With a strong emphasis on community engagement, CSO’s are responsible for performing a variety of duties to assist the (UMBPD) with its campus safety and community policing efforts. CSO’s assist UMBPD to make connections between students, faculty, staff, and other members of the community. The incumbent of this position enforces university policy, by-laws, the student code of conduct, and performs other non-criminal police related duties such as: community engagement and outreach; patrolling the campus on foot and/or be assigned to a designated post; provides direction, general information, and resources to the public, issuing parking tickets; performing walking escorts; respond to non-criminal complaints, building checks and other duties assigned. CSO’s are essential employees that do not carry firearms and have no powers of arrest.
