Job Summary
The Digital Marketing and Outreach Manager is a critical member of the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center (MSBDC) and works for the lead State Office, which oversees six regional and two specialty offices. The position reports directly to the MSBDC State Director with a high degree of autonomy for day-to-day functions, and serves as the central point of contact for digital marketing content creation and management across the Massachusetts SBDC, including web content and social media strategies. The position also coordinates the Massachusetts SBDC’s annual impact survey and manages outreach efforts to clients and stakeholders. The position also assists the State Director in the preparation of reports for state and federal funding sources.
Essential Functions
- Design and develop content and graphics for various digital and print materials for the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center. Design, produce and execute websites, publications, newsletters, social media campaigns, videos, reports, print materials and other graphic products of the Massachusetts SBDC from concept to final production.
- Create, implement, and evaluate digital content to align with organizational goals and strategies.
- Manage and maintain a cohesive content calendar for social media and digital platforms, tracking results and analyzing performance to inform future improvements. Use SEO techniques, analytics and feedback to guide responsive, data-driven content strategies.
- Create and manage databases of stakeholders, partners and clients for conducting outreach.
- Utilize computer software and other digital tools to design and manage Massachusetts SBDC websites, with attention to architecture, accessibility, and usability. Ensure that content remains consistent with federal and state regulations.
- Create and oversee department’s branding to ensure compliance with department, Isenberg School of Management, and UMass Amherst policies and update Massachusetts SBDC policies when appropriate.
- Work with printers, including all design specifications. Press check each project before final print. Deliver to printers camera-ready files with specifications.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and reports for program funding sources with the Massachusetts SBDC State Director.
- Serve as the point of contact for the Massachusetts SBDC’s impact survey. Work with the national America’s SBDC and third-party survey vendor to help facilitate client outreach.
- Create and implement policies to ensure Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance with University policies. Reconcile credit card payments and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate training activities organized by MSBDC regional and specialty centers, including topics, scheduling, program descriptions, registration and digital marketing. Ensure that state-wide training initiatives address issues of concern to MSBDC clients and are executed and marketed in a cohesive, streamlined and standardized way.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of full-time experience in website content development, digital marketing and graphic design OR an associate’s degree and five (5) years of experience in website content development, digital marketing and graphic design.
- Demonstrated proficiency managing websites, social media platforms and digital communications, including information architecture, production, and analytics reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience writing for business and government audiences across a variety of digital platforms.
- Knowledge of graphic design principles and print production standards.
- Extensive knowledge of computers and software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and other digital design tools.
- Demonstrated creativity and self-motivation.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently without supervision.
- Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple complex tasks while meeting deadlines.

- Occasional off campus to travel conferences and meetings.
Work Schedule
- Monday - Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm, some nights and weekends may be required.
- This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee’s work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining agreement.
