Career Navigator UMass President's Office
The Masshire Greater Brockton Career Center is a One Stop Career Center managed by the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute (UMDI) and overseen under a charter form the MassHire Greater Brockton Workforce Board (MHGBWB). The MassHire Greater Brockton Career Center is located in downtown Brockton and provides employment and training services to job seekers and businesses. The Career Navigator is responsible for working with individuals referred from the Neighborhood Works Housing Solutions Section 8 voucher program to help them identify a long-term (up to five years) career path that fits with available jobs in their region with good wages, benefits and opportunity for advancement. The Career Navigator supports the individual to identify any training or education needed, assist with accessing those education and training resources, and then through the employer relationships of the Career Center, support the individual to find a job, provide post-employment transition, and as desired by the individual, ongoing career-path coaching.

The position reports to the Department Chair (i.e. Air Force ROTC Commander) and serves as the only university employee supporting four military members hired as university faculty and staff. The Department of Aerospace Studies is established in accordance with the “Application and Agreement for the Establishment of a Senior Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Unit” contract among UMass-Lowell and Air Force leaders. “Secretarial” support is provisioned per paragraph 2g of that contract. The department administers the Air Force ROTC program which prepares students for appointment as commissioned officers upon successful graduation. The department supports students attending Northeast Consortium of Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts (NECCUM) as well as students attending Southern New Hampshire University. Students participating in the Air Force ROTC program undergo a four-year education, training, and evaluation program designed to develop leaders of character for tomorrow’s Air Force. We are seeking a Senior IT Client Support Specialist to join the Client Technology team for the UMass President’s Office.  The Senior IT Client Support Specialist will enable the President’s Office staff in Shrewsbury and Boston to be productive, effective and secure in using technology in their work.  Experience with various endpoint management tools is required (imaging, patching, package deployment, security, remote support, etc…). Reporting to the Manager of Client Support, s/he will be responsible for endpoint management as well as providing daily support for laptops, desktops, tablets, smartphones, conference room/AV equipment and software and personal productivity software. S/he will provide 1-1 or group technology training and coaching, ensure enhanced data and device security measures are effective and handle special projects to research and implement custom solutions. The University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute (UMDI) Applied Research and Program Evaluation group (ARPE) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Research Manager. Research Managers work with the unit director and senior research managers to conceive of and create new projects and develop project scopes, budgets, and project work plans. Research Mangers are responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned projects, including conceptualizing and developing sound research plans and timelines, implementing plans within stated timelines, conducting appropriate quantitative and/or qualitative analyses of data, implementing quality control processes, and synthesizing data to surface findings, and developing high quality project deliverables with clearly stated conclusions and recommendations. Research Managers are expected to possess a solid foundation in research methods, strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, and the ability to independently manage projects or components of complex projects. Research Managers must be comfortable with mixed-methods research approaches, including both qualitative and quantitative research designs. Depending on the size and scope of projects, Research Managers may be responsible for supervising and mentoring staff on their project team, and are expected to foster a collaborative team approach to project implementation. Although not solely responsible for developing new business, Research Managers are expected to identify funding opportunities and participate in development activities. ARPE conducts social science research projects in direct response to specific client needs. ARPE studies typically focus on questions related to public health, human/social services, and education across the age spectrum (from early childhood through post-secondary and adult education).
