General Summary: The incumbent of this position will serve as a Laboratory Technician and will be responsible for performing laboratory work associated with reagent preparation, apparatus and materials set up as part of the academic lab courses.  Other tasks related to this role include establishing and maintaining a well-organized lab environment.

Examples of Duties: Duties include by are not limited to reagent preparation and testing, equipment calibration, assisting with maintaining and organizing lab equipment, records, and supplies, assisting laboratory coordinator and teaching assistants with troubleshooting aspects associated with laboratory exercises, presenting experimental results, washing, and autorclaving of lab items, and ensuring the safe laboratory practice is followed.

Qualifications: A BS in biological sciences is preferred. The successful candidate will have basic laboratory experience and be comfortable with general lab techniques and/or ample laboratory course work in both biology and chemistry.  With a working lab knowledge of two or more of the following areas: cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, or biochemistry.  Attention to details and good record-keeping skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and computer literacy (especially Microsoft Excel).  Must also have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and the ability to work well with others.  Must be able to handle supplies and items of up to 30 lbs.
