General Summary: 

The Professional Learning Specialist at the Early Education Leaders Institute at UMass Boston will coordinate and deliver high quality of professional development for the early care and education workforce.

Examples of Duties: 

• Facilitate professional and leadership development trainings and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in both virtual and in-person settings (this includes evenings and weekends)

• Raise awareness among early childhood educators about opportunities offered through the Massachusetts Professional Development Academy (The Academy) or other assigned project and connect them with these resources.

• Utilize culturally respectful and anti-bias facilitation techniques to create inclusive learning environments.

• Participate in training of trainers and achieve certifications to deliver a set of high-quality professional development courses to early educators and leaders

• Maintain fidelity in delivering PLCs and trainings by actively participating in all required facilitation-related professional development/training opportunities.

• Proactively recruit participants for PLCs/Trainings, maintain communication with them between sessions, and track their attendance.

• Become proficient in The Massachusetts StrongStart Professional Development Systems Learning Management System (LMS) and support the management of PLCs/Trainings within the system.

• Collaborate with UMB Institute staff, as well as with partners at the EEC and other initiatives, through regular meetings

• Assist with creating, refining, and translating PLC content as needed

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree required in Early Education and Care, or adjacent field. Minimum of 5 years working in the field of Early Education and Care required. Ability to conduct trainings in language other than English strongly preferred. Previous experience teaching adult learners, leaders, and educators preferred

This is an exempt union position. This is a grant funded position with a current end date of June 30, 2025, subject to renewal contingent on funding and university needs.
