Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Career Development, the Career Development Coach will apply industry-specific knowledge in performing career advising and placement duties with Isenberg School of Management students in order to further student career and professional development outcomes. The primary focus will be on students seeking professional-level internships and/or permanent placement career outcomes in a wide variety of corporate or non-profit organizations.

 

Essential Functions

  • Advises students, in one-on-one meetings, workshops or small group settings, on conducting focused career searches. Develops learning tools which support student learning.
  • Maintains and distributes information regarding current employer placement opportunities.
  • Performs research on key industry hiring trends and opportunities affecting business school students and provide information to students, and upon request, to faculty and administration.
  • Supports student preparation for job search by reviewing student resumes, conducting practice interviews, and providing guidance to students which helps them target potential employers by industry.
  • Facilitates individual career development skills including self-assessment, business correspondence, professional networking, business etiquette, interviewing, negotiations, and other professional skills.
  • Provides counseling to students to develop, refine and implement an appropriate and realistic job search strategy for different industry segments.
  • Participates in and supports the coordination of Chase Career Center programs, workshops, job search advising activities, and school-wide events.

 

Other Functions

  • Attends meetings on and off campus with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Administratively supports creation and maintenance of Career Services forms, collateral and instructional materials as needed.
  • Supports Assistant Directors as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and engaging working relationships with students, representatives of business and government, faculty, alumni, and senior corporate executives.
  • Evidence of a clear understanding of, and a commitment to cultural, social, economic, and ethnic diversity.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to independently prioritize work and handle multiple tasks. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
  • Ability to participate in team projects as assigned.
  • Ability and willingness to attend meetings both on and off campus; with, or without groups of students.
  • Computer literacy, proficiency with contemporary software programs.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Master’s degree or MBA.
  • Experience in conducting small group and/or one-on-one presentations.

 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Typical office environment.

 

Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday 8:30 am -5:00 pm.
  • Required to work occasional weekends and evening hours.
  • This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee’s work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining agreement.
