| Incumbents in this series test, repair, install and/or maintain various types of electrical systems and equipment; troubleshoot electrical and related equipment; maintain adequate inventory of equipment and materials; inspect the work of outside contractors; and determine materials and/or equipment necessary for a job and on-the-job procedure changes. The basic purpose of this work is to ensure the safe and adequate functioning of electrical systems and equipment.
Maintain building temperatures by monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing, or installing electronic devices and related mechanical equipment involved with building heating, cooling and ventilation systems. This also includes repair of devices such as fume hoods, domestic hot water heaters, lighting and other energy management equipment involved with day-to-day building operations. Making modifications to the software logic and scheduling end devices to assist in saving energy. |

Communication Dispatcher II

| The Dispatcher II position is an entry level, uniformed non-sworn, support position for the University Police Department. Under general supervision of the Dispatch Supervisor or the shift commander, the Dispatcher II will perform a variety of specialized support duties the Police Communication Center. Support duties may include: Operating a centralized computer aided dispatch system (CAD) to dispatch non-emergency and 911 calls for service to the campus community. This includes receiving, prioritizing, and transmitting first notification of calls for service for police, fire, and medical assistance from the campus community. The Dispatcher II will operate a fixed radio system, transmitting messages to multiple and portable units under strict rules and regulations. The Dispatcher II communicates via state and national criminal databases and is responsible for effective and accurate communications between campus law enforcement, the public, and external law enforcement agencies. Extensively documents actions and outcomes from all police, fire, and medical incidents occurring on campus into the CAD system; and perform related work as required. Regular use of judgement and discretion is necessary to set priorities, assess the importance of information and react quickly and effectively. |

| The OEHS Lab and Environmental Specialist within the Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) is responsible for supporting the radiation, laser chemical and biological safety programs, as well as the environmental management system, including data input into the inventory control system for chemical, radiological and biological materials. The incumbent will be responsible for receiving, bar coding and distributing chemical, radiological and biological materials throughout the campus; will support the collection and shipment of hazardous materials in accordance with state and federal requirements; and may also be involved in routine laboratory inspections; working at the Integrated Science Complex (ISC) loading dock; maintaining the supplies and equipment in the ISC waste rooms; and providing other Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) support services to laboratories campus wide. |
