Visiting Professor - Nuclear Engineering UMass Lowell
The Nuclear Engineering Program in the Department of Chemical Engineering invites applications for a Visiting Professor to teach courses in Nuclear Science and Engineering. The position is for 1 year (renewable). The appointment is scheduled to begin Fall Semester 2025.
Postdoctoral Research Associate - Chemical Engineering (multiple positions) UMass Lowell
The successful applicant will conduct computational research in nuclear materials and advanced energy materials. The candidate will develop, train and test machine learning algorithms for performing materials simulations using methods such as dense neural networks, gaussian processes, and graph convolutional networks. Materials of interest include molten salts, which are used as a heat transfer fluid in advanced fission and fusion reactors, and doped ceramic materials for high-temperature electric-thermal energy storage. The candidate will help immediate supervisor in writing scholarly articles and proposals. Salary will be competitive and based on experience of the candidate. The initial appointment will be for 1 year with a possibility of renewal based on the productivity and performance and the availability of funding.
Postdoctoral Research Associate in Additive Manufacturing - Plastics Engineering (multiple positions) UMass Lowell
The successful applicant will conduct experimental and analytical research in the areas of 4D/3D Printing of Shape Memory Polymers and/or Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites for Biomedical Applications (smart catheters) with an emphasis on design/implementation, experimentation, material selection and formulation, manufacturing, and characterization. Participate in meetings and write reports, scholarly articles, and proposals. This position is contingent upon funding. The initial appointment will be for one-year with a possibility of renewal based on productivity, performance, and the availability of funding.
Professional Academic Advisor/Retention Support Specialist (part-time/temporary) UMass Lowell
The Centers for Learning, Advising and Student Success (CLASS) is a centrally coordinated student academic support center and provides advising, tutoring, success coaching and a wide range of academic support services to all UMass Lowell students. The Centers for Learning offers these services on both north and south campus and has professional advisors located both centrally and within the academic colleges. The Centers for Learning is actively engaged in university-wide student success initiatives and partners with academic colleges, student affairs and other units on campus to support the retention, persistence, and graduation of all our students. This professional academic advising position requires an advanced, developmental, proactive problem-solving approach to advisement to ensure students succeed academically and are fully engaged in their educational experience. The primary responsibilities include advising a caseload of first-time freshman and/or transfer students on program requirements and registration issues, degree planning, monitoring student progress, re-enrollment outreach, and supporting at-risk students. The position also involves assisting with the support of various activities and events promoting student engagement and community building. Participation in recruitment, outreach and orientation activities required.
