Assistant/Associate Professor (Performing Arts) UMass Boston
The Department of Performing Arts, in the College of Liberal Arts, at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position for Music Education and Conductor of Chamber Orchestra. The position begins on September 1, 2026 and will be at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank. Primary duties include coordinating the Music Education program, which includes the Department’s BA Music – Music Education Track, and serving as the liaison with the University’s College of Education and Human Development Teacher Licensure Program. The successful candidate will teach courses such as chamber orchestra, instrumental methods, socio-cultural perspectives in music education, and advise students in the Music Education Track. The position holds a 2/2 teaching load and teaching/conducting chamber orchestra counts as one class. MassBays NEP Director UMass Boston
The Director of the MassBays oversees and manages all aspects of the program's operations including overall fiscal management, short- and long-range planning, funds development and communications, and development of specific, annual budgets and work plans. The position supervises three direct staff positions and manages the contracts for five Regional Service Providers (RSPs). The RSPs hire Regional Coordinators, who are staff to the MassBays program and work in close collaboration with each other and MassBays Central staff under the guidance of the MassBays Director. The Director is the lead for developing and implementing initiatives and policies that support the implementation of the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP), the guiding document for MassBays, including initiatives related to water quality improvement, habitat protection and restoration, extreme weather, coastal resilience, and community engagement. The Director coordinates with the host entity (UMass Boston School for the Environment) and works closely with an EPA Region 1 Program Officer.
