Job Summary
Under the direction of the University Health Services (UHS) Medical Director, provides professional eye care to eligible students, faculty, staff and dependents. Performs independently within departmental policies and procedures, referring unusual administrative problems to Medical Director, UHS.
Essential Functions
- Provides direct clinical optometric care including routine, contact lens and emergency services to eligible students, faculty, staff, visitors and their dependents.
- Provides preventative eye care services and participates in the Health Services’ education program.
- Consults with parents, faculty and administrators regarding students’ eye care problems within the limits of the University Health Services’ Statement of Confidentiality.
- Assists with supervision of student intern.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- Doctorate in Optometry
- At least two years of experience in clinical optometry.
- License to practice Optometry in Massachusetts or licensed in another state with license in Massachusetts at time of hire.
- Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) and Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agents (DPA) certified.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- University Health Eye clinic work environment provides optometry services to students, faculty, staff and dependents.
Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Up to 40 hours/week.
- 1 year term; this is a temporary, non-benefited position
Salary Information
- Up to $80/hr. depending on qualifications and experience.
