SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Graphic Designer is a key creative contributor within University Marketing, responsible for developing visually engaging print and digital materials that strengthen the university’s brand and support enrollment and retention initiatives. This role collaborates closely with the Creative Director and marketing team to deliver high-quality designs across multiple platforms, ranging from admissions publications and event signage to social media graphics and digital campaigns. The Graphic Designer combines technical expertise with creative problem-solving to ensure consistency, innovation, and timely execution of projects that advance institutional goals. In carrying out these responsibilities, the incumbent follows the University’s best practices to build and/or support student academic success and retention and assist in meeting strategic objectives for persistence and timely graduation of the entire student population.
EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Graphic Design & Creative Production • Designs and produces marketing materials (e.g., booklets, posters, brochures, flyers, postcards, promotional items, merchandise), ensuring high print production quality and timely delivery • Works with the Marketing team to create graphics for digital marketing communications such as email headers, social media graphics, and digital ads consistent with media standards and specifications • Works with the Marketing team on content creation, editorial review and approval and ensures brand consistency across digital and print materials • Generates and presents creative ideas and design solutions that enhance Marketing initiatives and support university partners • Organizes and maintains a library of design assets, templates, and brand resources for internal use • Ensures all digital and print designs meet accessibility standards (e.g., ADA, WCAG) for inclusive communication Project & Workflow Support • Assists in coordinating the design and production of projects from conception through completion including supporting final checks on all deliverables for accuracy, brand compliance, and technical specifications before release • Utilizes project management tools to prioritize, monitor projects, and support timely completion of assignments • Helps maintain strong working relationships with university partners and approved vendors to support project development and completion • Works with the University Marketing team to create and adapt content for use across multiple marketing channels, such as digital publications shared to the University website • Recommends technical solutions for increased productivity and marketing effectiveness • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned and/or the job description changed periodically to reflect changing organization needs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing or a closely related field
- EXPERIENCE:
- Previous (1 year) professional graphic design and publication production experience
- Previous (1 year) experience collaborating with individuals and groups to accomplish strategic brand communication goals
- Previous (1 year) experience assisting with projects
- OTHER: Occasional local travel may be required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree
- Experience working in higher education
- Strong project management skills
- Experience in the design of admissions-related marketing and advertising materials from concept through production
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Experience with software used in the production of printed and digital publications (i.e., InDesign, Photoshop, and other Adobe software)
- Experience or knowledge of printing methods and processes for the approval and execution of printed materials (i.e. with print vendors)
- Strong organizational and planning skills with great attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated initiative in developing creative approaches and problem-solving
- Willingness to evaluate, learn, and implement contemporary printed and digitally produced marketing materials
SALARY: $47,856.00-$55,000
