Job Summary:
The University Information Technology Services (UITS) department of the UMass President’s Office is seeking a part time Automation and Full Stack Development Intern who wants to work side by side with IT professionals delivering technology solutions and services to the university system. The selected intern will work up to 20 hours a week during the semester; students must be currently enrolled and attending classes at one of the five UMass campuses. This is a paid internship at $17.00 an hour and academic credit may also be available. Interns will gain valuable knowledge of the inner workings of the University of Massachusetts. We are embracing innovation in automation, AI, cloud-first architecture, DevSecOps, and agile development.
Essential Functions:
The Automation and Full Stack Development Intern will:
- Assist in development for Automation and Full stack development projects using various tools and platforms (UiPath/RPA, AWS etc.).
- Help Full stack and RPA developers create new features, fix bugs while learning best practices of how to develop RPA and full stack applications.
- Maintain software documentation.
- Assist in manual functional testing, document results and writing automated functional tests.
- Analyze business requirements and help develop solutions for Automation requests and cloud first native applications.
- Work with stakeholders to gather, refine and document requirements/Process Definition Documents (PDD).
- Assist with the creation of user personas, user stories and wireframes.
- Assist with other related projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience):
- Current UMass student who is enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program of study.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Curious, motivated and willingness to learn new technologies and skills.
- Capable of working effectively as part of a team and individually.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when interacting with staff.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience):
- Knowledge of Full Stack development stack and technologies - HTML/CSS/JavaScript (React/NodeJS/NextJS) REST APIs, VS Code.
- Knowledge of cloud native technologies.
- Knowledge of version control systems.
- Knowledge of automation tools and other platforms.
- Knowledge of databases (e.g. Postgres).
