General Summary: 

The UACCESS temp staff position will provide the Office of Urban and Off-Campus Support Services 30-37.5 hours per week of administrative support. We anticipate the temp will remain in place through 11/1/2024. The position will pay $28/hour.

Examples of Duties: 

STUDENTS & FOOD PANTRY LOGISTICS:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of U-ACCESS Food Pantry and front office.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor student employees, student interns, and student volunteers.
  • Participate in student employee interviews, onboard process, time sheets, and scheduling for Food Pantry operations.
  • Collaborate with Director on student staff trainings, workshops, workforce development opportunities, coordinating logistics of room reservations, food, materials, and supplies.
  • Monthly Student Staff meetings with Director and Student Food Pantry Coordinator for communication regarding food pantry operations.
  • Maintain inventories, supplies, ordering, deliveries, storage space with student staff.
  • Responsible for GBFB order, delivery, stock, and distribution.
  • Ability to maintain security of inventory, keys, locks, combinations and passwords.

CAMPUS RELATIONS:

  • Work closely with on-campus partners that include Sodexo, Student Center Facilities, Division of Student Affairs, Athletics, faculty, Campus Police and Safety Division, and Health Services.
  • Maintain external relations with Greater Boston Food Bank, Circle of Hope, Hope and Comfort, and additional potential donors for U-ACCESS.
  • Update community-based resources for accurate accessible information to students in need.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients, ensure data collection of client information is accurate, and produce reports related to food pantry data.
  • Create a warm welcoming environment to foster a sense of belonging for students seeking assistance from U-ACCESS.
  • Ability to seek guidance, referrals, and direction for needs outside the scope of U-ACCESS.

U-ACCESS TEAM:

  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility in a work environment, and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Meet weekly with Director of U-ACCESS.
  • Participate in Orientation, Open House, Welcome Week, and Commencement ceremonies as assigned by Director.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Human Service or closely related field and a minimum of one-three years of administrative and/or program coordination experience.   

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong background in working with student populations in higher education.
  • Working knowledge of and demonstrated experience with community resources/partnerships and underserved/underrepresented postsecondary populations, including students emancipated from foster care, temporarily homeless students, low-income single parents preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain collaborative relationships with organizational and community partners.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, as well as online technologies, including social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with other administrative offices and units, as well as community partners and providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a wide range of constituencies including administrators, staff and students, as well as external partners and providers. 
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain security of records and other matters of office confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and to take initiative.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to customer and student service.
