Open Rank Tenure Track Faculty Positions - Nuclear Engineering and Physics UMass Lowell
The University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) invites applications for two full-time, open-rank, tenure-track/tenured faculty positions beginning in September 2026. One position is in Nuclear Engineering and the other in Physics and Applied Physics, reflecting a coordinated hire spanning the Francis College of Engineering (FCOE) and the Kennedy College of Sciences (KCS). This joint search is designed to strengthen cross-college collaboration in advanced nuclear energy, fusion, and related emerging technologies. We seek collaborative scholars whose work advances nuclear engineering, nuclear science, fission and fusion energy systems, or related emerging fields. Priority areas include AI/ML method development for multiphysics modeling and simulation; the nuclear fuel cycle; reactor safety; advanced sensing, diagnostics, and measurement systems; nuclear medicine; radiation health physics; nuclear fission and fusion materials; and plasma and fusion physics. Candidates whose research involves experimental studies or leverages UMass Lowell’s Radiation Laboratory—including its 1-MW research reactor, 5.5-MV Van de Graaff accelerator, and radiochemistry facilities—or who integrate AI/ML or quantum computing into their research are strongly encouraged to apply. A strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within the Nuclear Engineering and/or Physics curricula is essential. The role also includes contributing to interdisciplinary teaching at the intersection of science and engineering to help grow technical electives and strengthen the broader nuclear science and engineering curriculum while supporting core departmental needs. Assistant Research Engineer in Medical Devices for Wound Healing (BS) UMass Lowell
A research engineer position in medical device development is available at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. This position will involve the design, prototyping, and validation of novel wound healing technology. The project is sponsored by the Defense Health Agency through the US Combat Casualty Care Research Program and in collaboration with investigators at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on productivity and performance, as well as the availability of funding. Technology Services Technician UMass Lowell
As part of the Technology Services Team, the Technology Services Technician is responsible for providing end-user facing services to optimize employees’ experience with the portfolio of services and technology offered at UMass Lowell by IT. Services are provided in a variety of mediums including face-to-face desk-side support, walk-up traffic, telephone or remote support and video conferencing. TechServices Technicians require an aptitude for working with applications and systems to undertake investigation, diagnosis and resolution of employee service requests and are responsible for ensuring those employee’s continued success. Requests for help will range from straightforward requests for advice to more complicated technical issues. From how-to questions to break-fix support calls, the TechServices Technician will provide exemplary customer service and support, often going above and beyond to serve the needs of UMass Lowell. As a key piece of delivering service excellence, the TechServices Technician thoroughly documents all service requests and associated work into the call-tracking and incident management system of record. Documentation includes a clearly defined description of the problem, complete troubleshooting steps, customer communications, equipment asset information and a complete description of the resolution. In some cases the TechServices Technician will be writing internal and customer-facing knowledge base articles. When the Technology Services Technician is unable to solve a customer’s issue personally, they will identify and bring in resources across IT to rapidly reach ideal conclusions. When such an issue arises, the Tech Services technician is responsible for managing the overall service operation and delivery.
Major Gifts Officer UMass Boston
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Principal & Leadership Gifts and Campaign Director, the Major Gifts Officer is primarily responsible for developing managing, implementing, and overseeing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of approximately 100-150 prospective leadership gift donors. The Major Gifts Officer will create individualized solicitation plans leading to major outright and deferred gifts of $50,000+, integrating unrestricted and restricted gifts, endowment, annual and capital gifts in support of UMass Boston’s fund raising priorities. Responsibilities will most significantly include the identification, cultivation and solicitation of new prospects for the University. The Major Gifts Officer will serve as a fundraiser for University-wide targeted initiatives and will work closely with colleagues in University Advancement, Dean’s, faculty and senior administrators in developing and implementing key fund raising strategies and activities.
Labor Relations Manager UMass Boston
Reporting to the Executive Director of Labor Relations, the Labor Relations Manager will have primary duties that include the resolution of grievances pertaining to collective bargaining agreements, employee concerns and potential disciplinary matters. The incumbent will administer human resources policies and procedures; and will provide support and guidance to managers and employees when employee discipline may be warranted. This position will participate in collective bargaining and impact bargaining with University Unions; and will provide guidance in the interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and University policies and procedures.
