General Summary of Position:
Under the general guidance of the Executive Director of Enterprise Applications, the Enterprise Applications Project Manager leads assigned medium to large, complex IT and enterprise application projects in support of university goals and governance-approved priorities. This position provides project structure, planning, coordination, communication, risk management, vendor coordination, stakeholder engagement, change readiness support, and implementation oversight for assigned initiatives.
Projects may include new system implementations, application enhancements, workflow improvements, system integrations, data migrations, vendor-led initiatives, reporting projects, process modernization efforts, platform upgrades, feature releases, and post-implementation stabilization activities.
The IT Project Manager supports the Enterprise Applications function by working closely with business owners, project sponsors, technical teams, vendors, consultants, UMass UITS resources, campus stakeholders, and governance groups to ensure projects are well planned, clearly communicated, effectively managed, and successfully transitioned to operations.
The IT Enterprise Applications team supports a broad portfolio of enterprise technology solutions that enable UMass Lowell’s academic, administrative, student service, and operational functions. This portfolio includes CRM platforms such as Salesforce, enterprise service management platforms such as ServiceNow, DocuSign, Boomi ETL and integration services, Softdocs Etrieve enterprise document management and workflow solutions, reporting tools, and other enterprise applications used across the university.
The team also coordinates with UMass UITS and other UMass partners on shared enterprise systems, cloud-hosted platforms, integrations, vendor-supported applications, and systemwide technology initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- A Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience or an Associate's degree combined with a PMP certification credential with 10 years of progressively responsible experience managing complex IT projects, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, budgeting, risk management, issue resolution, stakeholder communication, and project reporting.
- Experience leading or supporting a migration from a legacy document management or enterprise content management system to a modern cloud-based platform.
- Strong communication, facilitation, documentation, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create structure, manage ambiguity, build trust, drive accountability, and deliver results in a complex higher education IT environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading medium to large IT or enterprise application projects in a higher education environment from planning through implementation, go-live, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Demonstrated successful completion of at least one enterprise document management, enterprise content management, document imaging, records management, workflow automation, or similar platform implementation.
- Experience managing a complex implementation that included legacy system replacement, data or document migration, vendor coordination, user acceptance testing, training readiness, go-live planning, and operational transition.
- Experience re-baselining or recovering delayed, at-risk, or complex projects by establishing revised scope, milestones, governance, communications, risks, and delivery plans.
- Experience managing cross-functional project teams involving business process owners, technical staff, vendors, consultants, executive sponsors, governance groups, and end users.
- Strong proficiency with standard project management methodologies and frameworks, including Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, hybrid approaches, or PMI-based practices.
- Working knowledge of organizational change management practices, including stakeholder readiness, communication planning, training coordination, adoption support, and transition planning.
- Experience supporting or managing enterprise applications from an IT perspective, including vendor coordination, configuration support, access/security coordination, testing, release planning, issue resolution, and operational documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related discipline strongly preferred
- Hands-on Experience with Softdocs Etrieve, Perceptive Content/ImageNow, OnBase, DocuWare, or similar enterprise document management, document imaging, records management, or workflow automation platforms.
- Higher education IT project management experience
- Experience managing complex, high-visibility IT projects across multiple campuses, departments, business units, or governance groups.
- Experience with enterprise applications commonly used in higher education, such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, DocuSign, Softdocs Etrieve, Boomi, PeopleSoft, reporting tools, or similar platforms.
- Experience coordinating projects involving student services, registrar, admissions, financial aid, HR, academic affairs, administrative operations, or other university business areas.
- Experience recovering delayed, complex, or at-risk projects through re-baselining, revised governance, stakeholder alignment, structured communication, risk management, and delivery planning.
- Experience working with cloud-hosted vendor platforms, vendor-managed systems, system upgrades, feature releases, production support, and post-go-live stabilization.
- PMI-ACP, Scrum, Agile, Prosci/change management, ITIL, ITSM, or similar certification preferred.
- Experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Lucidchart, Microsoft Teams, or similar tools.
- Strong process improvement mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies, improve workflows, support scalable operational change, and strengthen project delivery practices.

This position is full-time, benefited and in the SEIU professional union in grade P19. Anticipated salary based on qualifications within P18 range. Minimum: $77,885 with midpoint of $101,251.
